The Power of Community: Building Bonds and Boosting Health for Women in Atlanta

One of the biggest challenges so many of our clients face is struggling to find a community of women in Atlanta. So many busy women - whether they’re career-driven, caregiving, or retired - are finding it more and more difficult to find and maintain friends and find a community that they feel excited to gather with. One of our primary pillars and goals at gain. is to establish a safe space for women to build strong and healthy relationships and community in addition to strong bodies.

Physical Health: Stronger Together

Research shows that having a strong social network can impact our physical health in remarkable ways. According to studies by the American Psychological Association, people with strong social connections tend to have better overall health, lower rates of chronic diseases, and even live longer. As women, this is particularly true—having a community can motivate us to stay active.

There’s something unique about having a group of women to push and support you on your fitness journey. We’ve been testing this concept with small women-only classes at gain. strength, and can absolutely confirm that when a group of women come together to train, magic happens. They push each other, hold space for the tough days, and continue to create a sense of love and accountability that keeps one another showing up.

Mental Health: Lifelines of Support

Atlanta is often a brutal and demanding environment, and it can take a mental toll to step out into the chaos every day. Having a supportive community can be a lifeline during stressful times, providing empathy, advice, and a safe space to share our joys and struggles. Research published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior suggests that strong social ties can reduce the risk of depression and anxiety, offering emotional resilience that’s crucial for women at every stage of life.

Women in Different Life Stages: Finding Common Ground

The women who come to gain. arrive with incredibly diverse backgrounds. Some are preparing to have their first baby or are the parents of multiple children, some are balancing challenging careers that require them to work long days or travel often, some are empty-nesters or retired and exploring a new season of life. With so many unique paths intersecting at gain., there’s so much opportunity to learn and grow from one another.

Class becomes more than just a workout— it’s a way to connect, get advice, share challenges, and build friendships that extend beyond the gym walls. It’s celebrating the vast landscape of being alive, basking in each others wins, and fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment that’s unique to a community like this.

Atlanta: Where Community Thrives

In the heart of Atlanta, community is a necessary part of survival. You might drop in to a single gain. class, join daily for strength and yoga, or maybe you catch us at a pop up or workshop in the city—but wherever you find gain., you’ll be connected to this brilliant community.

Not sure what it’s all about, come check out a gain. strength class and see for yourself.

We’ll see you there.

Unlocking Strength: Why Women Should Embrace Strength Training as They Age

Hey there, ladies of Atlanta (and beyond)! Let's talk about something that's not just about lifting weights, but about increasing confidence and living our best lives—strength training. Whether you're new to the gym or a seasoned fitness queen, there's something special about getting stronger, especially as we navigate the journey of aging.

Imagine walking into "gain." in Atlanta, being greeted by a disco ball and a curated playlist, seeing other women from all walks of life, and trainers who are basically your hype squad. Don't worry, gain. isn't just a gym—it's a vibe, a community, and your future happy place. But why strength train when you could be doing anything else?

Embrace the Power Within

Some of you are probably all too aware, but as we age, our bodies undergo changes—hello, metabolism shifts and muscle loss. Strength training at "gain." becomes your secret weapon. It's not necessarily about turning into a Muscle Mommy (which, we FULLY support), but about feeling empowered in your own skin.

Improve Muscle Mass

So many of our clients come to us wanting to “tone up.” Well, toning up is a result of increased lean muscle and decreased overall body fat. Both of those things happen when you build muscle (through strength-training), improve your overall fitness (including cardio conditioning), and of course, manage your nutrition. We can help you with ALL of that at gain.

Bone-Deep Benefits

Strength training isn’t just for muscles. It’s important for the strength and integrity of your bones, too. As we age, bone density can be as unpredictable as Atlanta weather. Strength training helps keep bones strong, reducing the risk of fractures and osteoporosis. (I actually used to use “preventing osteopenia” as a tagline in my marketing and instagram bio to get women to work with me!)

Banishing Burnout & Gain Grit

Life is hard and unpredictable, but exercise and being part of a strong community is the ultimate antidote. Exercise releases endorphins—nature's happy pills—and boosts your energy levels. And building resilience through doing hard things will help you feel better prepared to step back through the doors of gain. and meet the challenges of your life - every day.

The 'Me Time' You Deserve

Giving yourself time to move your body, breathe, try hard things, explore your capacity, and invest in your health is self-care in action. It’s not just about reps and sets; it’s about reclaiming your strength, both physical and mental. Plus, you might meet your new workout BFF or find a trainer who just gets you (and your fitness goals).

Finding Your Fit at gain.

Where to start? gain. offers everything from personalized training sessions to killer group classes that’ll make you sweat (in a good way). With trainers who are highly knowledgeable AND deeply empathetic, you’ll feel supported and motivated every step of the way.

Whether you’re curious about lifting heavy or just want to feel like a superhero in your daily life, strength training at gain. exists to feeling strong, confident, and ready to take on whatever life throws your way. Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress and showing up for you.

gain. is ready for the women of Atlanta - we’re a few months away from opening our brick and mortar doors, but we’re running small group classes and 1:1 training in the meantime - because strength training isn’t just about the muscles—it’s about building a community, training your body to explore what you’re capable of, and meeting yourself where you are.

See you at gain. 💪

How did we get here? (From katie’s pov)

Coming soon - women’s strength training gym in Atlanta

Did we always dream of creating a brand? A vision? A freaking brick-and-mortar physical container for our hopes and dreams?

Absolutely not!

But here we are. Just a couple of women in Atlanta who are tired of box gyms that lack support, boutique gyms that feel a little too exclusive or unattainable, performance-based gyms that feel too…masculine. We’re just two women who really think that women deserve a space to learn how to lift weights, get conditioned to hard movement, and have the space to reach their maximum potential without it feeling like it’s a competition or a race to the finish line (even when it is.)

Over the last two years, I’ve been leading a small women’s group that’s focused predominately on strength training. The majority of the 42 women who have participated in the program since it started had never touched a weight before. By the end of the 12 week program, every single one of them increased their strength (and I have the spreadsheets to prove it) - but more importantly, they increased their confidence.

Some women went off to start training on their own having acquired the tools they needed. Some stuck around because the community they found. Some of my most fond memories of the Women’s Strength Program aren’t even the personal bests…they’re celebrating life’s moments. Marriages, divorces, dogs, dating. Yes, we work really hard. We cheer each other on. We dig into the GRIT. And we’ve got each others’ backs in a way that can’t be conveyed through written word on a screen.

And that’s the foundation of pushed me - Katie - to pursue the dream of gain. I want to collaborate with my partner to create the MOST bad-ass women-centered movement and mindset space in Atlanta. Is that too much to ask?
